Eli Alexander

Co-President, Board of Directors & Secretary-General

Always an ambitious delegate and staff member, Eli enters his Grade 12 year with confidence in his Model UN journey. Starting with an online conference in the height of the COVID pandemic, the small but mighty 7th Grader has evolved into one of the Co-Founders of Vancouver Island’s only overnight Model UN conference. VIHSMUN has become one of his most ambitious projects, but with each day that passes he becomes more confident in his team and their motivation for success. Between time spent searching for fundraising venues, emailing sponsors, and handling committee programs, Eli is proud of his hard work. With 16+ conferences worth of UN style debate experience, Eli’s love for MUN has extrapolated into his everyday life, where he researches and debates topics of his own interest with others. His graduation wish is to share what he’s learned with delegates from all across Canada and internationally.

Kyumin Kim

Co-President, Board of Directors & Director-General

As a junior at Mount Douglas Secondary School, Kyumin Kim is thrilled to serve as the Director-General of the VIHSMUN 2027. Although his Model UN journey has been short, it has been incredibly rich. Now, in his third year, Kyumin has grown from a passionate delegate into an experienced staff member. When he is not dropped into a room full of smarties dressed in Western business suits, Kyumin enjoys reading, sleeping, and, most of all, letting his mind wander to the most random thoughts. He looks forward to meeting all the bright and engaging delegates from across Canada at VIHSMUN 2027, and is ready to share a climactic moment in his Model UN journey with them.

Oliver Myers

Co-President, Board of Directors & Under-Secretary-General, Conference

From an extrovert who couldn’t find his voice, to a person who says he “loves” public speaking, Oliver has grown immensely as a delegate since joining the small MUN Club at Pacific Christian School. Oliver has attended a number of regional and international conferences moving into twelfth grade. He is overjoyed to be joining the Secretariat Team as USG Conference for VIHSMUN 2027. He is always excited to have a good debate on any topic and cannot wait to see what delegates bring to this conference. Oliver wishes delegates the very best when preparing for VIHSMUN and hopes delegates foster new and amazing experiences.

Sabrina Guerrero

Chief of Staff

After working with a supportive group of delegates to combat human trafficking and slavery within global mining operations at her first conference this year, Sabrina Guerrero was introduced to the immersive world of Model UN. Her passion for global affairs and debate sparked her commitment to continuing this journey, and therefore Sabrina is delighted for the opportunity to serve as Chief of Staff for VIHSMUN 2027. While her Model UN journey has only begun this year, the many conferences she has attended have inspired her to create an educational and enjoyable conference environment for all delegates. When she is not busy raising her placard to motion for a 10:1 moderated caucus, Sabrina enjoys playing the guitar, painting cool things she finds in nature, and obsessively watching The Perks of Being a Wallflower. She is looking forward to meeting the staff team and delegates, and wishes everyone who attends VIHSMUN the best experience.

Michael Liu

Under-Secretary-General, Media & Design + IT

There is a certain inevitability to Michael's role as the Under Secretary General of Media & Design + IT for VIHSMUN: if a computer has taken it upon itself to malfunction, or there is an issue with the website or a camera, that is his to deal with. The Metro Vancouver senior is more than happy to oblige in his capacity.

He was drawn into Model UN by chance while on CAIMUN 2026's video team and, though he can't quite put a finger on why, he has made a habit of returning. One might say he has devoted an unseemly number of weekends to conferences throughout Vancouver, often in the company of a camera. Here at VIHSMUN, Michael is the one who runs the site and oversees the design and media for the conference, not to mention providing some emergency tech support when things go wrong. That work extends to this very page.

When he is not involved with MUN, Michael can be found as a student pilot or photographer, or simply indulging his penchant for technology. He puts a good deal of his finances toward airplanes and camera gear, yet Transport Canada still deems him fit to fly.

With the inaugural conference fast approaching, Michael is looking forward to seeing the team's efforts come together. His hope is that each delegate will make some great connections and have a weekend in Victoria they won't soon forget, long after the gavel has been put down.

Isabella Wu

Under-Secretary-General, Delegate Affairs

In her Grade 10 year at Crofton, Isabella is elated to serve as the USG of Delegate Affairs for VIHSMUN 2027. Since first stumbling into Model UN in 8th grade, Isabella has grown to love the chaos of MUN weekends. From passionate debate to questionable amounts of caffeine and the notes passed across the room, she has come to appreciate the little things that make MUN more than just a conference. Outside of MUN, Isabella can usually be found playing something unlistenable on the guitar, baking something inedible, or painting something un-lookable, probably with Panchiko playing somewhere in the background. She eagerly awaits the opportunity to welcome delegates to Victoria’s very first overnight conference and hopes to make the weekend a memorable one for everyone. Above all, Isabella hopes that delegates leave the weekend with not only new perspectives and unforgettable committee experiences, but also a few friendships that last long after the final gavel.

Doyeon Kim

Under-Secretary-General, Operations

As a student at Royal Bay High School, Doyeon Kim is excited to serve as the Under-Secretary-General of Operations for VIHSMUN 2027. Since beginning her Model United Nations journey in Grade 7, she has developed a strong interest in diplomacy, debate, and the community that MUN creates. Although she is still growing in her MUN journey, each conference and experience has helped her become more confident in public speaking, collaboration, and understanding global issues from different perspectives. Outside of the committee room, Doyeon enjoys spending time with friends, reading, and playing games with her brother. She is honoured to be part of VIHSMUN’s first conference and looks forward to helping delegates feel welcomed, engaged, and inspired throughout their MUN experience.

Jacob Ji

Under-Secretary-General, Crisis

A Grade 10 student at St. Michael’s University School, Jacob is ecstatic to be Under-Secretary-General of Crisis this iteration. Since his first shaky speech, Jacob has grown to love Model UN, whether it be for the debate or the people. Outside of sending joke directives to his dais, Jacob can be seen maintaining his #1 Rhythm Typer standing for Canada, LARPing as an Asian, and making parodies that flop like his dad jokes. He is extremely excited to see what you make of the conference.

Carys Yu

Under-Secretary-General, General Assemblies

Heading into her junior year at Mount Douglas Secondary School, Carys is thrilled to be serving as Under-Secretary-General of General Assemblies for VIHSMUN 2027. Since raising her placard at her first conference with barely any idea what a moderated caucus was, to surviving her first overnight conference fueled by far too many caffeinated beverages, she has fallen in love with the exhilarating debate, diplomacy, and even the inevitable stress of position-paper deadlines. Above all, Carys most treasures the lifelong friendships she has made through Model UN. Outside of committee sessions filled with rigorous discussion, Carys can be found procrastinating on homework, squeezing in cello practice minutes before a lesson, or binge-watching her favorite comfort shows on Netflix. She hopes every delegate leaves VIHSMUN 2027 with not only stronger debating skills but also unforgettable memories, meaningful connections, and a passion for Model UN that lasts long after the conference ends.

Juno Williams

Under-Secretary-General, Logistics

Even though she was born and raised on Vancouver Island, Model UN will always be her second home. Juno Williams is a Junior at Saint Michaels University School, and has been participating in local and national Model UN conferences since Grade 6, and can't wait to continue her journey with this next step. She is honoured to be the USG of Logistics at the first iteration of VIHSMUN, and is even more thrilled to work alongside her fellow secretariat members. Besides Model UN and the world of Law, she enjoys hiking Strathcona, taking street photography, and spending ridiculous amounts of money on colourful cardboard. Working with the secretariat team of VIHSMUN has been a chance for new connections, and she is excited to see both delegates and staff in Victoria!

Mia Zhang

General Secretariat Member

As a junior at West Point Grey Academy, Mia is excited to serve on the General Secretariat for VIHSMUN. She’s been involved in MUN mostly behind cameras, taking hundreds of photos and somehow still missing the one photo she actually wanted. For her, conferences are less about debating and more about the connections made, late-night conversations, random side quests, and friendships that come out of them. Outside of MUN, Mia dances, plays flute, and considers herself a movie enthusiast, although her movie choices may be questionable. She also convinces herself she’s good at bowlingSecret talent, allegedly., which she has personally deemed her secret talent despite no one else confirming this. She’s looking forward to making more memories and meeting new people.

Victoria Bellhouse

General Secretariat Member

Entering her junior year at Queen Margaret’s School, Victoria is honoured to serve as a member of VIHSMUN’s Secretariat. Ever since she attended her first conference two years ago, she has cultivated her passion for debate and political science through MUN. The lively debates, comprehensive resolutions, and thousands of scribbled notes continue to inspire her, and she is ecstatic to bring her passion and experiences to this conference. Victoria looks forward to welcoming all delegates to the committee room and hopes they will leave with many meaningful memories.
